This week, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite men’s denim looks from both coasts. Take a style tour from the streets of NYC to the boardwalks of Venice, CA, with us…
There’s definitely a trend happening in lower Manhattan that involves pairing denim with slim-cut button downs and Clarks-style shoes. The two guys shown above, on the left and in the middle, have this urbane-yet-cool look down to a science. Get a similar look by pairing Rex in American Blue with a checkered or plaid button-down, rolling up the sleeves a quarter, and slipping into camel or – if you wanna go bold – cream-colored shoes. (We like Clarks’ Desert Boot.) If you’re more of a Brooklyn Hipster-type, try layering an army green cargo jacket over a denim button down, and show off retro ankle boots by pairing them with a slim, tapered jean, like Tom in Magnum.
On the sunnier coast, the denim-on-denim trend is one we’ven been spotting all over recently. Sport this look by matching your Railroad Dry Solid jeans with a vintage denim jacket and brightly colored, low-top Converse kicks. For chilly Cali nights, top off a simple jeans-and-a-tee outfit, like the one above in the middle, with a knit beanie for added warmth and style. Instead of a classic relaxed or straight leg, reach for something more unexpected, like a pair of cuffed jeans such as Clay in Machine Selvage, and high-top Chucks. More of a preppy guy? Cruise around the boardwalk in the Travis Corduroy in Camel, a thick stripe pullover and comfortable slip-on shoes.
