We’ve ditched the electric kool-aid polishes of summer and are settling into subtler shades that complement cozy fall wardrobes. With so many colors to choose from, we narrowed it down to three of our favorite nail trends for the season. So slip into your brand spankin’ new denim and head to your neighborhood mani/pedi spot with this handy guide pulled up on your mobile.
BLOODLUST A deeper, vampier shade of red, oxblood is the hue of the season. This is one color you need in both your closet and your nail polish wardrobe right now. We’re not usually into matchy-matchy looks, but something about the pairing of James Twiggy in Sienna and Essie’s Lacy Not Racy polish looks incredibly luxe – and we’re totally loving it.
NUDE ATTITUDE Nude nails were huge on the Fall 2012 runways. Cynthia Rowley, Derek Lam, Richard Chai and Nahm all chose to abandon color. If you’re into an understated look, this is the idea tone to partner with the subtle neutrals of various denim washes. The gray of Trixie in Slate Studded looks super chic paired with a coat of Chanel Le Vernis in Frenzy.
FRENCH CONNECTION The french manicure took a massive turn for the better this fall with Donna Karan, Thakoon and Behnaz Serafpour turning the much maligned style on its head. We love the updated look of a backwards french finished off with fierce black tips. Try out the trend and pair it with High Class Skinnys in Dark Paris for a cool, modern look.
