For all of you still scrambling to throw a costume together, this one’s for you: our step-by-step guide to dressing up as Rachel Zoe, Karl Lagerfeld or Anna Dello Russo.
Rachel Zoe: For the stylist-turned-designer’s signature look, start with flares. Mirror her A-list style by grabbing your Humphrey Yale Flares and getting a little layer crazy. We’re talking a wild leopard fur coat over a black velvet jacket over a white blouse with an exaggerated bow. Finish off your boho-luxe costume in oversized sunnies, tons of bracelets and cocktails rings, a studded leather bag and a lipstick-stained Starbucks cup. You cannot accessorize enough. After all Zoe’s look is everything because she wears everything…all at once.
Karl Lagerfeld: Guys, we know girls tend to steal the Halloween spotlight, but it’s your turn this year. The Chanel mastermind said it himself, “Was it not every man’s desire in life to leave a lasting impression on the world?” Make yours by starting with an awesome white ponytail wig. Tuck a white tuxedo shirt and matching white tie into your Travis H20 jeans and throw on a snazzy black dinner jacket. Get the authentic Lagerfeld look with cut-out leather gloves, some Santa Fe-style necklaces and a pair of black sunglasses. And finally, please find a stuffed white cat to carry around. Choupette will not appreciate being left at home.
Anna Dello Russo: Make a badass entrance a la the Vogue Nippon editor in Black Coated James Twiggys and a white muscle tank. Your look wouldn’t be accurate without some eccentricity. So tie a gold gypsy belt around your waist and drape a shaggy coat, like this Miu Miu one, over your arms. Accessorize the look with a decadent cross necklace, extra large hoop earrings and, of course, stunning sunglasses.
