You’ve been waiting for it and here it is: our best and worst dressed from this year’s Academy Awards:

Shimmery metallic dresses made a huge statement at the Oscars, and the three women who wore the trend best were Halle Berry, who brought it in Versace; Stacy Keibler, who upstaged her mega-movie star date in a studded Naeem Khan number; and Naomi Watts, who looked like a sexy cyborg in Armani.

White – and variations of it – also had a major red carpet moment. Charlize Theron was statuesque in Dior Haute Couture. Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence was the belle of the ball, showing up in a spotlight-grabbing Dior gown with jewels draped down her back. (Nice touch, Rachel Zoe!) Amanda Seyfried got it right in an icy Alexander McQueen halter dress designed by Sarah Burton.

And now for the bad news. While we love Renee, Jennifer and Kristin, we couldn’t help but wish they’d upped their game for Hollywood’s big night out. Renee, we’re not sure if you hit the bottle or the (Botox) syringe a little too hard pre-show, but something, besides your hair and makeup, was a little off. Jennifer, you are way too tiny for that voluminous Valentino dress, and we would have liked to see you in something more form-fitting. If you’ve got the body – especially at 44 – then rock it! And Kristin, oh Kristin…we know you stepped on glass and were hobbling across the carpet on crutches, but c’mon on – please don’t ever get dressed in the twilight again. And just run a brush through your hair. Just once or twice. It will help a lot. We promise.
